HabitUnlock ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Health Data (with your permission)

With your explicit consent, we read the following data from Apple HealthKit:

• Step Count — to track walking habits
• Exercise Minutes — to track workout habits
• Stand Hours — to track movement habits
• Workout Sessions — to track completed exercises

We do NOT write any data to HealthKit. We only read data to determine if your habits are complete. Health data is processed locally on your device and is never sent to our servers or any third-party service.

Local Data (stored on your device)

• Your custom habits and goals
• Streak history and achievements
• App preferences and settings

Analytics Data

We collect anonymous usage analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve the experience. This includes:

• Feature usage patterns (e.g., which screens are visited, which habits are most popular)
• App performance data (crashes, load times)
• Device type, operating system version, and app version
• Anonymous session identifiers

Analytics data is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking across other apps or websites.

Subscription & Purchase Data

When you subscribe or make a purchase, we process:

• Subscription status (active, expired, trial)
• Purchase timestamps and plan type
• An anonymous customer identifier

We do not have access to your payment details (credit card, Apple ID, etc.). All payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store.

Screen Time & App Blocking

HabitUnlock uses Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls) to block apps until habits are complete. This data is processed locally by Apple's framework and is never accessible to us or any third party.

HabitUnlock uses the following third-party services:

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party. Data shared with PostHog and RevenueCat is anonymous and used solely for analytics and subscription management.

Data Retention

• On-device data (habits, streaks, settings) — retained until you delete the app or clear app data
• Analytics data (PostHog) — retained for up to 12 months, then automatically deleted
• Subscription data (RevenueCat) — retained as long as your subscription is active, plus any period required for billing reconciliation

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your data
• Opt out of analytics collection (contact us via email)
• Revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in iOS Settings

Children's Privacy

HabitUnlock is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date."
